We recently found ourselves in Canggu, with a fancy Yacht Club transfer on the agenda. My usual move in Bali is to just grab a local taxi, but for this, we wanted something a bit more polished. We ended up booking a Mercedes chauffeur service, specifically for those Yacht Club runs. It definitely made an impression pulling up in style.
Let’s talk numbers, because it’s always good to be informed. A standard Toyota Alphard with a driver for 10 hours usually sets you back between $120–$180 USD, depending on who you book with. Stepping up to a Mercedes or BMW, also with a driver for 10 hours, puts you in the $200–$350 USD range. For those with a serious need for speed, exotic cars like a Ferrari or Lamborghini are a different ball game entirely, costing anywhere from $800–$2,500 USD per day. If you just want a standard local luxury car rental without a driver, you’re looking at IDR 700,000 to IDR 2,300,000, which is about $43.75–$143.75 USD for a full day. We always factor in a tip for good service too, usually around 50,000–100,000 IDR.
Beyond the Yacht Club, we’ve learned that a good driver is invaluable in Bali. Take Ubud, for instance. The roads there, especially going to temples, are often narrow and steep. A luxury SUV with a skilled driver isn’t just a comfort, it’s pretty essential for navigating those routes safely and efficiently. Then there’s Seminyak and Canggu. These areas are incredibly trendy but also incredibly busy. Traffic can be brutal, and a driver who knows the shortcuts can literally save you hours. We experienced this firsthand – our Mercedes driver knew exactly how to bypass the worst of the Canggu congestion. It’s also worth noting that if you’re traveling during peak season, especially for multi-day bookings, demand for luxury vehicles goes way up, and so do the prices. Booking ahead is always a good idea.
For arrangements, a specialist offering luxury chauffeur Bali can coordinate this end to end.
