They’re often narrow, winding, and surprisingly steep in places. A skilled local driver in a luxury SUV made all the difference, handling those tricky sections with ease while we just relaxed and took in the scenery. Similarly, heading to Uluwatu for sunset and dinner, the roads can get quite dark and aren’t always well-marked at night. Having a private driver who knew the area intimately provided incredible peace of mind. We also made sure to tip our drivers well; 50,000–100,000 IDR is a common and appreciated gesture for good service. It added to the overall seamlessness of our travel.
